D’Artagnan’s great wines
The most famous of the Three Musketeers is a reference to the Gascon vines, now more than 1,600 years old. They cover over half of Gers, and extend to areas bordering the Hautes-Pyrenees, Pyrenees Atlantiques, Landes and Lot-et-Garonne. There are five appellations: Madiran and Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh, Côtes de Gascogne, Saint Mont, Armagnac and Floc de Gascogne.
Madiran is renowned for its red wines made from the Tannat grape with strong aromatic potential; the winemakers and their hard work then add balance and body. Pacherenc is their counterpart in dry or sweet white wine. This is obtained by chapping extra-ripe grapes harvested in the autumn.
